MEDP 150 Retrospective

For me the class was very much like the description on ESIMS. Ideally what I would like to see more of in the future is concentrating on one type of editing software from the beginning so that we can develop over the semester.

A Day In The Park

The Theme I Explored Is Spying and The Outdoors.
I took this shot from an aerial view.

This shot is of the same boy as in the aerial view, but from behind and on the same level.

In these two images I played with focus:1) Firstly, I focused on the boy in the baseball cap.

2) Secondly, the boy in the grey shirt.

This shot is from a low angle with a longer exposure (I chose to take it this way because I feel that it adds a certain reverence.)

The next three shots revolved around people playing in the sprinkler system.

In this shot I was trying to play with the interaction between sunlight and water.

Artist Statement

My name is Katherine Pysher. On the surface I am a blonde, former prep-school teen vogue “it” girl born into an upper-middle class family in Manhattan. I am 22 years old – the eldest of four kids – and a bit of an anglophile. I went to private school until I transferred to the Bronx High School of Science. I started my college career in a small town in Massachusetts but moved back to Manhattan when I realized that I couldn’t be truly happy in a city that closed down at 4pm.
In my work I give a voice to emotions. I close my eyes and every character I create is in the room with me. I tell their story. To me, people are like a finely tuned clock where every action has an explanation. It is the rationalization that interests me. I want to know what makes people tick. I believe it is these seemingly meaningless experiences that create a situation in a sort of Rube Goldberg Effect. I use my work to explore the psyche.
